In this study, glycolysis of rigid polyurethane foams was investigated. To evaluate the effect of hydroxyl value and functionality of polyols in the glycolysis of rigid polyurethane foams, various polyols were used. Rigid polyurethane foams for glycolysis were prepared from polymeric diphenylmethane diisocyanate, polyols, silicone surfactant(Tegostab B-8404), catalyst(PC-8), HCFC 141B, and distilled water. The glycolysis experiments were performed under atmospheric pressure in a 4 neck flask kept at a constant temperature. Diethylene glycol and potassium hydroxyde were used as the solvent and catalyst in the glycolysis system, respectively. The properties of the glycolysis products were determined by analyzing the hydroxyl value and viscosity. The hydroxyl values of the glycolysis products of rigid polyurethane foams were about 500-560mgKOH/g. The viscosity of the glycolysis products were about 5580-49200cPs. This values were higher than those of the original polyols. |
