Bioplastics aid reduction of petroleum resource exhaust and CO2 gas causing global warming. Bioplastic (PLA) has been begun to be used in electronic products, in addition to sheet, film, and fiber. Cheil Industries INC. is moving forward with plans to produce a bioplastics composites made with renewable resources (PLA). From a cradle-to-cradle perspective, the production of PC/PLA alloy reduces green house gas emissions by 34% versus petroleum-based PC/ABS alloy. This presentation will provide an overview of the bio-based polymer properties, commercialization status and applications of these polymers. |
