제목 Effect of solvents on phase behavior of polystyrene-block-poly(n-pentyl methacrylate)
초록 The phase behavior of polystyrene-block-poly(n-pentyl methacrylate) (PS-b-PnPMA) was studied in the presence of DOP, DMP, dodecanol and hexdecane. For the PS-b-PnPMA with closed-loop phase behavior, it was found that its temperature window of the ordered phase could be increased or decreased, depending on the solvent selectivity. All the solvents used could decreased the upper order-disorder transition temperature (UODT) of the copolymers, while variation of the lower disorder-order transition temperature (LDOT) depent on the different solvents. DOP and DMP could increase their LDOT, and dodecanol and hexdecane could decreased the LDOT rapidly.
Due to the PnPMA-selectivity of dodecanol, order-order transitions were also observed in the symmetric copolymer/dodecanol system. Lamellae, gyroid, cylinder and sphere microstructures were obtained by adding different amout of dodecanol. Especially, it was found that the gyroid-disorder transition is irreversible. That is to say, the cylinder, gyroid and disordered phases were observed in turn with increasing temperature, while no gyroid phase was observed during cooling. In addition, it was also found that selectivity of dodecanol for the blocks in PS-b-PnPMA changed with the increasing temperature.
