The plastic lens was generally prepared by using polyethylene glycol bisallylcarbonate, poly(methyl methacrylate), diallyl phthalate and their derivatives. The refractive index of lens was in the range of 1.50 to 1.55. Then, the thickness of lens obtained from plastic materials above-mentioned was not thin, followed by poor optical properties such as double refraction and chromatic aberration. In present, the plastic lens with light weight as a hand baggage is being much loved. In relation to the distance of transmitted light, the optical properties of thin lens were superior to those of fat lens. Thus, in order to enhance the optical function of plastic lens, a compound with high refractive index was considered as follows. That is, bis-(2-propene)-1,2-ethanedithiol was prepared by the reaction of 1,2-ethandithiol with 1-bromo-2-propene under alkali media. In addition, its thiolation by using thiourea was performed after the bromination to a pair of allyl groups existed in the compound was carried out. As the result, a thiolated compound above refractive index 1.60 was obtained. In separated experiments, It was found that the compound with a lot of thiol groups brought about higher crosslinking density in the manufacture of lens. This compound was characterized by FT-IR (-SH at 2350cm-1), 1H-NMR(-SH at 1.7 ppm), and C13-NMR(-CH2SH at 28.4 ppm) spectroscopy. |
