The radical scavenging property of [60]fullerene has led to a lot of interest for its application in medicine. A number of techniques have been devised to make [60]fullerene water-soluble for the intended application. In this study, [60]fullerene was covalently bound to polyethylene glycol acrylates by radical initiation. The reaction product when isolated from the organic solvent phase was water-soluble and gave a yellow-colored solution. The product was characterized by UV-VIS, FTIR, and NMR spectroscopy |
