Preparation and photocatalysis of CNT/TiO2 composites derived from TIP and THF |

In this study, CNT/ TiO2 composites were prepared with a MCPBA oxidation method from multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) with different mixing ratios of titanium isopropoxide (TIP) and THF. Their photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB, C16H18N3S•Cl•3H2O) in water was examined. Several tools such as BET surface area, SEM, XRD, and EDX, were used to evaluate physical parameter, particle structure, crystal structure of TiO2, and elemental analysis. Photocatalytic activity of the particles was studied in a reactor containing MB solution with UV irradiation. Consequently, it can be considered that the photocatalytic decomposition of MB solution and UV irradiation time could be attributed to combination effects between TiO2 and MWCNTs with plausible photodegradation mechanism. |
