제목 Investigation on the Release Behavior of Ketoprofen in Atactic Poly(vinyl alcohol) Hydrogel as Drug Delivery System
초록 Hydrogels are a three-dimensional network of hydrophilic polymers held together by association bonds such as covalent bonds and weaker static forces such as hydrogen and ionic bonds. These networks are able to retain a large quantity of water within their structure, maintaining its physical performance. Due to their superior chemical and physical properties, hydrogels have received much attention as biomedical materials. Moreover, in view of their extraordinary biocompatibility, hydrogels have been successfully used in a wide range of biomedical applications that include lubrication for surgical gloves, urinary catheters and surgical drainage systems, contact lenses, wound dressings, and drug delivery systems. In this study, to prepare stable atactic poly(vinyl alcohol) (a-PVA) hydrogels used as drug delivery system, ethylene glycol/water mixture are used as a cosolvent. Ketoprofen, anti-inflammatory medication, is loaded into the a-PVA hydrogels. The release behavior of ketoprofen in a-PVA hydrogel is studied under various conditions such as PVA concentration and molecular weight of a-PVA. The amount of ketoprofen released is measured by high performance liquid chromatographic analysis.
