Microsensing of chemical and biological molecules using microfluidic devices received a great deal of attention recently. However, it is still challenging to control of the surface properties of these devices on demand. Here, we utilized layer-by-layer deposition method to modify the surface of the micro-channel of the device in order to control cellular interactions inside of the channel. We make various polyelectrolyte multilayer films using ionic materials like polyelectrolyte and cyclodextrin. We have been studied cellular interactions on such various PEM films-coated surfaces. The results of those study indicated that different behaviors of the cells are shown depending on the hydrophilicity of the surface. It showed some behavior like cell-blocking or cell-adhesion depending on the surface material. We applied these excellent biocompatible coatings with microfluidic devices for the study of cellular activities including adhesion, motility, proliferation, cell-cell networking. |
