The Control of Mesenchymal Stem Cell on Conductive Polymer |

Recently, the conductive polymers are in attraction due to their large application field. One of well known conductive polymers is PEDOT(poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiopene)) which has good electronic properties such as electrochromism, high conductivity, and also good stability. PEDOT structure can be designed and modified as many derivatives for desired applications. In our recent study the PEDOT and PEDOT derivatives were explored for control of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). The conductive polymers showed good biocompatibility in the culture of MSCs. Through applying electric field to MSCs on conductive polymers, studies on the effect of voltage (redox states) and cell control were carried out. The application of conductive polymers to bioengineering will be presented. |
