Modification and Application of Ethyl Cellulose as The Membrane Material |

Ethyl cellulose (EC) is a kind of natural polymer material and has been studied intensively due to its better membrane-forming ability, good flexibility and low cost. Although studies concerning the gas/vapor transport or drug delivery system have appeared since 1950s, relatively little attention has been paid to water treatment membrane. We herein describe the fabrication of a ultrafiltration membrane using ethyl cellulose-graft-poly(ethylene glycol) (EC-g-PEG). Simple steps were required; and molecular weight of poly(ethylene glycol) side-chains were varied from 350 to 2000. The membrane property and fouling resistivity of membranes were also investigated in this work. |
