A Low Bandgap Polymer Consisting of Alternating thiophene and benzothiadiazole as a Donor-Acceptor moiety for Plastic Solar Cells |
초록 |
Encouraging progress has been made over the last few years in the field of photovoltaic solar cells based on organic molecules and conjugated polymers. Among the different concepts which have been proposed, the bulk heterojunction approach is attractive and significant progress in improving the power conversion efficiency of the plastic solar cells. Although organic materials especially conjugated polymers have several advantages such as low cost synthesis and comparatively easy manufacture of thin film devices by solution cast technologies, the power conversion efficiency is relatively poor. One of the possible improvements of efficiency is the implementation of new materials absorbing the part of the solar spectrum which has a maximum photon flux (around 1.8 eV). For efficient harvesting of the solar energy, we synthesized a novel low band-gap conjugated polymer (R4-PTBT) consisting of alternating electron-rich diheptyl-substituted propylene dioxythiophene(R4-T) and electron-deficient 2,1,3-benzothiadiazole(B) units. This material shows a quite low optical bandgap of 1.55 eV. We investigated its optical and electrochemical properties and photovoltaic properties by fabricating heterojunction solar cells with PCBM as an electron acceptor. |
