Photocatalyst is one of the most promising areas in the field of environment especially for water remediation. Dyes are the backbone of textile industry. It is not easy to degrade these dyes for their complex structure and stability. Due to interesting property of graphene oxide, several graphene based catalyst find its application for their catalytic activity. Different photocatalyst are well known for degradation of dyes but most of these new, modified or doped photocatalyst have shown low activities, poor absorption of visible light and active only under UV light. To overcome these limitations, controlled morphology with tunable band gap, graphene oxide supported carbonate doped Iron-cerium oxides were achieved in hydrothermal reaction with the variation of carbonate content. After successful synthesis and characterization, photocatlytic activities were tested under visible light for the degradation organic dyes. It is supposed that catalyst produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) that is active component for the fast degradation of dyes. The degradation is quantitative and repetitive also. |
