Dithienopyrrole-containing copolymers can be used as p-type and donor materials in organic semiconductor for organic photovoltaic cells (OPVs). In this paper, we have synthesized novel low-bandgap conjugated copolymers, poly{2-(2,2'-bithiophen-5- yl)-4-(henicosan-11-yl)-4H-dithieno[3,2-b:2',3'-d]pyrrole} (DTPT2) and poly{4- (henicosan-11-yl)-2-(7-methylbenzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazol-4-yl)-4H-dithieno[3,2-b:2',3'-d]pyrrole} (DTPBT) via the coupling polymerization of 2,6-dibromo-4-(henicosan-11-yl)-4H-dithieno[3,2-b:2',3'-d]pyrrole with 4,7-bis(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazole and 5,5'-bis(trimethylstannyl)-2,2'-bithiophene, respectively. From the experiment of UV/Vis spectroscopy, we can determine the optical band gap of DTPT2 and DTPBT are 1.92 and 1.45 eV, respectively. The photovoltaic performance of OPV using these dithienopyrrole containing copolymers as donor will be discussed in detail. |
