제목 | Osmotic Pressure of Ionic Liquids in an Electric Double Layer |
초록 | Ionic liquids are in the liquid state at room temperature and they have thermal and chemical stability, low melting point, high conductivity. So, the ionic liquids are applied as solvents in the fine chemical industry and they are also used as electrolytes in batteries, solar cells, and fuel cells. In that situation, the electic double layer (EDL) will be formed, because the ionic liquids may be in contact with a electrified surface. The charcteristics of ionic liquids at an electrified interface are widely studied. Since the distribution of ions in EDL are different from those in the bulk. In this work, we focus on the osmotic pressure of ionic liquids in an EDL because it plays major roles in many important physicochemical processes. By adapting BSK model, which decribes the electric potential distributions of ionic liquids in EDL, we predict the osmotic pressure. Then, investgate the correlation effects and the steric effects on osmotic pressure. Also, we calculate the osmotic pressure using MD simulation, and check the consitstency between the continuum and MD simulation results. |
