제목 Prediction of osmotic pressure inside nanoporous electrodes with ionic liquids of asymmetric ion sizes
초록 In order to improve the safety of lithium batteries, ionic liquid based electrolytes are under development. For such battery systems, one of important issues is prediction of the osmotic pressure inside nanopores because the osmotic pressure may cause serious bulging of the electrodes. As an initial step toward that direction, the osmotic pressure inside a nanopore is predicted by using the mean field theory for the ionic liquids with asymmetric ion sizes. Until now, the formula of osmotic pressure has not been available even for the bulk of electrolytes of asymmetric ion sizes. So we first derive a formula of the osmotic pressure in the bulk by adopting the statistical mechanics method. Then the osmotic pressure is computed for a nanopore by solving the modified Poisson-Boltzmann equation together with the momentum balance equation of the electrolyte system. The steric effects and the asymmetric size effects are discussed with special attention.
