Optical Properties of Flexible 1-D Photonic DBR Porous Silicon/Polymer Composite |

Photonic crystals of porous Si (PSi) have been a topic of interest, because of its use in chemical and biological sensors, biomaterials, and optical devices. Multilayered DBR porous silicon containing nanometer-scale pores are prepared by an anodic electrochemical etch of p++-type silicon wafer. Control of applied current density, duration of the etch cycle, and etchant solution composition can be tuned for their photonic characteristics. The resulting DBR porous silicon film has been removed from the substrate. DBR porous silicon/polymer composite materials are prepared by casting of polymer solution onto a porous silicon photonic crystal layer. The composite film exhibits a sharp resonance in the reflectivity spectrum. |
