A series of poly(ether ester) thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) were synthesized by using dimethyl-2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate(NDC) as hard segment, poly(tetramethylene ether glycol) (PTMG) (Mw= 1000), castor oil polyol (COP) as soft segments and 1,4-butanediol (BDO) as chain extender. For improving the physical properties of TPEs, castor oil as a soft segment was incorporated in the PTMG units. The composition and molecular weight of COP was changed from 15% to 50% (COP Mn= 5500, 4100, 3200, 2500). The synthesized TPEs were systematically characterized by using various spectroscopic studies, thermal and mechanical analysis. The result reveals that COP included TPEs shows higher physical properties and among them COP (Mn= 2500) shows the best mechanical properties. |
