A novel red light emission polymer, poly{9,9-bis(2’-ethyhexyl)-fluorene-2,7-diyl-co-2,5-bis(2-thienyl-2-cyanovinyl)-1-(2’-ethylhexyloxy)-4-methoxybenzene-5”,5”-diyl} (PFTVCB), was synthesized from the monomers 2,7-dibromo-9,9’-bis(2’-ethylhexyl)fluorene and 2,5-Bis-{2-(4’-bromothienyl)-2-cyanovilyl}-2-(2’-ethylhexyloxy)-5-methoxbemzene (BTVCB) through the Ni(0)-mediated polymerization. The copolymer was characterized using UV-vis spectroscopy, TGA, photoluminescence (PL) and electroluminescence (EL) spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and molecular weight studies. The synthesized copolymer showed an absorption maximum at about 380 nm, and between 425 and 620 nm the absorption increased broadly. In PL, the emission maximum was at 650 nm that could be shown the possibility of pure red emission, despite the copolymer showing little variation in UV-vis absorption characteristics. Especially, EL spectra of copolymers showed similar emission, but its color coordinate was (0.67, 0.32) which was very close to the standard red (0.66, 0.34) demanded for national television system committee (NTSC). In this presentation, we will show the synthesis and characterization of PFTVCB. |
