제목 Hepatocyte Adhesion on PVLA-coated Poly(L-lactic acid)
초록 Biodegradable poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) was versatile material in tissue engineering. However surface modifications were needed to improve hydrophilicity and cell adhesion because the relative hydrophobicity of PLLA obstructed cell-material contact. Poly-[N-p-vinylbenzy-O-β-D-galactopyranosyl-D-glucoamide] (PVLA) has been developed for hepatocyte adhesion matrix due to its amphiphilicity and specific interaction between galactose moietis in PVLA and asialoglycoprotein receptor (ASGPR) on hepatocyte cell membrane. In this study, we examine the modification of PLLA surface with PVLA for hepatocyte contact. The hydrophilicity of PLLA and adhesion of hepatocyte to PLLA matrix were enhanced by PVLA coating. The PVLA-coated PLLA surface was characterized by water contact angle, ESCA and AFM and optimum coating condition for hepatocyte adhesion was determined. We suggest that PLLA-PVLA system will be a useful method to improve hepatocyte cell seeding and adhesion onto scaffold matrix.
