Transition metal nitrides (TMNs) have been reported as efficient support materials with high corrosion resistance and good electrical conductivity. Among various TMNs, vanadium nitride(VN) has remarkable thermal stability and large surface area. Therefore, VN is one of the most promising candidates for support materials. Herein, we successfully synthesized electrospun VN fibers(VNFs) for ORR catalyst support. We confirmed that the ORR catalytic performance of VNFs is highly dependent on the annealing temperature due to the degree of crystallinity. At the optimized VNFs crystallinity, the ORR performance of Pt/VNFs was measured as 4.5 mA cm-2 for limiting current and 0.8 V (vs. RHE) for the half-wave potential. Especially, we observed that the initial stability of Pt/VNFs was 33% higher than the Pt/C catalyst at the high voltage. |
