Silica/silver nanocomposite particles (NCPs) has received a great attention due to its application, especially chemical, mechanical and antibacterial properties. Silica/silver NCPs were successfully prepared by alcohol reduction process. Thiol groups were utilized as a chemical protocol to make a binding bridge between silver nanoparticle and silica surface. The experimental process was performed in two steps. First step, thiol groups are chemically bound to silica particles with uniform size. Second step, silver nanoparticles are composited on silica particles functionalized with thiol groups. This experiment was analyzed by using TEM, SEM, EDX, XRD, and UV-Vis spectroscopy. |
