Polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) has attracted much attention as promising building blocks for nanocomposites, due to its three-dimension structure, high symmetry, and nanometer-sized cage. Porphyrin is also a highly light-sensitive chromophore that is widely used in photoelectric and biological applications. We firstly synthesized hydrophilic dendron modified porphyrin derivatives possessing CO2H-terminal group which was covalently incorporated into the octa[(3-hydroxypropyl)dimethylsiloxy] substituted-POSS using DCC/DMAP coupling condition, to afford water-soluble POSS-cored multiporphyrin arrays. We report on the synthesis and photophysical properties of POSS-cored multiporphyrin arrays for bioimaging and optoelectronic applications. |
