제목 Biomass Productivity of Tetraselmis sp. KCTC12432BP in Offshore Cultivation using Tubular Module Photobioreactors with CO2
초록 Injudicious usage of fossil fuels results in an exhaustion of natural resources and environment problems. The production and use of biodiesel from microalgae can reduce fossil fuels usage as well as CO2 emissions. In this study, Tetraselmis sp. KCTC12432BP was cultivated and the effect of CO2 filling frequency was investigated in offshore cultivation using tubular module photobioreactors (TM-PBRs). TM-PBRs were filled with CO2 every 3 or and 6 days. Biomass concentration and biomass productivity were 0.78 g L-1 and 6.8 g m-2 d-1 in the PBRs filled with CO2 every 3 days. In the PBRs filled with CO2 every 6 days, biomass concentration and biomass productivity were significantly increased to 3.18 g L-1 and 12.6 g m-2 d-1. The results of the present study indicate that CO2 filling frequency should be determined considering the biomass concentration and rate of photosynthesis of the microalgae to maintain the pH of culture within optimal range for maximal biomass productivity.
