Ionic block copolymers in polar solvents can form so-called charged micelles and they have been the subject of many studies in recent years due to the unique morphologies and physicochemical properties. In present study, we have investigated morphologies and conductivities of charged micelles in dilute solution. An interesting electric-field triggered morphological transition of negatively charged micelles has been seen. In addition, a unique relationship between micelle sizes and conductivity values has been detected, i.e., smaller micelles yield higher conductivities, by employing a series of ionic block copolymers with different molecular weight and ionic strength. The quantitative form factor analysis and electrochemical measurements were carried out to determine the mechanism of ion transport in the micellar solutions. |
