제목 Particle size classification of B4C and BN nanopowders by surface modification and centrifuge process
초록 The surface modification of boron carbide (B4C) and boron nitride (BN) powders, a widely used material in many industries, was carried out by a DI (Deionized) water-based solvent. After the surface treatment, powders were centrifuged for particle size classification in the solvent. The solvent for surface treatment of B4C and BN was prepared by adding NaHCO3 and EDTA (Ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid) into DI water until both NaHCO3 and EDTA were saturated. At the solvent, sub 10um B4C powder (Alfa Aesar) was added for a surface modification, and a mixture of modified B4C and solvent was obtained. Extra amount of DI water was added to the mixture, and centrifuge separation of the mixture was performed for purification. After purification, B4C particles in the mixture were separated by their size and mass through the repeat of centrifuge process with the different rpm (Revolution per minute) and duration. The separated B4C particles were collected and analyzed by PSA (Particle Size Analyzer) and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope).
