Recent advancement in graphene has emerged not only in electronic fields but also biomedical and biological research fields. Fabrication of graphene based nanomaterials such as graphene oxide, reduced graphene oxide, and graphene quantum dots have been shown many promising opportunities in recent bio-based research fields. A mono or multi-layered graphene NPs has been considered as carrier for in drug delivery since widely studied by various groups. However, we have been studied on graphene based nanomaterials for observing the feasibilities of application for cancer diagnosis and therapy. Our studies have resulted out the multi-color GQDs that are capable of in vitro and in vivo imaging. In vitro and in vivo studies on toxicology demonstrated that using of graphene based materials in biological purposes are safer than that of metals and semiconductor QDs. The carboxylated GQDs are also showed one of the promising candidates for phototherapy to be applicable for cancer therapy. |
