Theranostic approaches to cancer diagnosis and therapy using gas-generating nanoparticles |
초록 |
Theragnosis is an emerging approach that can perform diagnosis and therapy simultaneously, and has shown great potential in cancer diagnosis and therapy. Polymeric nanoparticles typically can encapsulate anti-cancer drugs as well as imaging probes. The aim of this research is to fabricate gas-generating nanoparticles that can be delivered to the tumor site and provide cancer-specific ultrasound imaging and necrotic cell death by generating gas bubbles. Gas-generating nanoparticles containing calcium carbonate minerals were fabricated by a W/O/W double emulsion method, followed by chemical modification with RVG peptide to target neuroblastoma. Various characteristics such as size, morphology, gas generation, and cytotoxicity of gas-generating nanoparticles were investigated in vitro. Gas-generating nanoparticles were useful to acquire cancer-specific ultrasonic images and reduced the tumor size in a tumor-bearing mouse model after intravenous administration. |
