Numerous methods have been studied to disperse carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in aqueous solvent. However, the previous dispersion techniques based on surface modification using strong acid destroy the conjugated structure of CNTs, causing deterioration of conductivity. Tannic Acid (TA) which has a large number of phenol groups forms metal-phenolic coordination bonds by metal chelation. In this study, we report robust and compressive carbon nanotube (CNT) aerogel by developing coordination networks on CNTs. The metal-phenolic networks between TA and transition metal ions enhance the degree of dispersion of CNTs in water and mechanical properties of CNT aerogel. The mechanical properties of the aerogels will be discussed in the conference meeting. |
