제목 Novel fabrication of keratin nanofiber mats for biomedical application
초록 Keratins are important proteins for wound healing and tissue recovery. In this study, we first optimized conditions to extract keratins from raw materials and then chemically modified them with iodoacetic acid for the preparation of electrospun nanofibers. The modified keratin was then blended with poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO) and electrospun to obtain keratin composite nanofibrous mats. The resulting nanofibrous mats were characterized by attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) and electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis (ESCA). Biodegredation of the keratin composite nanofiber mats was carried out using trypsin aqueous solution. Biological performances of the nanofibrous scaffolds were also studied.
