Carbon dioxide is one of the most important issue in current century. So many ways to utilize CO2 to form useful chemical. For DMC synthesis various type of catalyst used like polymeric and homo-heterogeneous. DMC use as fuel additives, electrolyte in battery. The issue is lower yield, selectivity, huge amount of water in the final stage. People are trying to use different catalyst but still facing same problem. So, different cationic and anionic type of IL were synthesized for solving problems. Same idea we applied here for production of DMC from IL. We synthesized dicationic IL. In brief the 1mmol 3-methyl imidazole and 1mmol mesylate precursor were mixed with 20 mL acetonitrile reaction mixture were stirred at 80 oC for 24 h ,excess solvent were evaporate under reduce pressure and vacuum dried at 30 oC for 12 h. |
