A semi-crystalline polyviologen bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (TFSI) with C6 spacers and its mixtures with crown-type molecules such as dibenzo-30-crown-10, 30-crown-10, 18-crown-6, and poly(ethylene glycol) dimethyl ether 1000 are examined. The mixture samples are also semi-crystalline materials. Ionic conductivities of all of the mixtures were significantly higher than that of the semi-crystalline polyviologen itself even though their total ionic contents are reduced. The ionic conductivity at room temperature of the polyviologen was 1.1 x 10-9 S/cm, and that of its mixture with 30-crown-10 was 1.3 x 10-7 S/cm, over 100-fold higher and accompanied by a 34 oC drop in Tg. However, the mixture with dibenzo-30-crown-10 displayed a similar room temperature conductivity even though its Tg was 10 oC above that of the polymer itself. |
