Porous carbon materials, especially activated carbon (AC), is a promising material for electric double-layer capacitor (EDLC) electrodes. The energy storage of EDLCs of can be enhanced by enriching the surface of the carbon materials with heteroatoms. In this study, surface treatment of multi-doping of N and F on activated carbons (ACs) was successfully carried out with ammonium hydroxide and hydrofluoric acid. In this work, N, F co-doping treatment was found to induce changes in the surface chemical and textural properties and the electrochemical properties of ACs. The multi-doped ACs exhibited remarkably increased textural properties and numbers of N- and F- functional groups. The specific capacitance of N, F multi-doped ACs increased about 81%. Therefore, the N, F co-doping treatment of ACs is a simple and efficient way to enhance the electrochemical properties of ACs. |
