Carbon black (CB)/epoxy composites are prepared by depending on various fluorination concentrations of CB. The tensile and impact strength, the electromagnetic interference shielding efficiency (EMI-SE) of these composites are evaluated for an epoxy matrix with various fluorination conditions of CB. The fluorinated CB/epoxy composites showed ~43% enhancement of the tensile strength as compared to that of unmodified composites and also the EMI-SE was improved. As a consequence, significant enhancements in the mechanical properties and the electrical properties are attributed to the fluorination of CB, which results for improvements of dispersion and adhesion of epoxy composites.
