In order to develop biomedical materials which have a more continuous and stable effect in vivo injection, photoreactive azidophenyl hyaluronic acid derivatives were prepared. A photosensitizer, 4-azidaniline, was introduced into the carboxyl group of activated hyaluronic acid. The prepared Az-HA derivative was characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR). A protein release study was conducted to evaluate the effect of the Az-HA derivative cured upon irradiation with light of a particular wavelength. Cytotoxicity and Cell proliferation tests of the Az-HA derivative were performed on an NIH3T3 mouse embryonic fibroblast cell line for biocompatibility. Thus, photoreactive azidophenyl hyaluronic acid derivatives are expected to be applied in the medical field. |
