Amorphous fluoropolymers have emerged as promising materials for various optical applications and polymer waveguide due to good processability, low birefringence and high optical transparency. Fluorinated polymers containing silicon and cyclotriphosphazne are expected to show low birefringence and low optical loss due to its tetrahedral structure and due to no absorption from deep UV to near infrared region respectively. For the fabrication of waveguide devices, a cross-linked polymer system would be more desirable due to several advantages such as increased thermal stability, chemical resistance, and improved waveguide fabrication process. We synthesized new cross-linkable fluorinated polymers containing silicon, cyclotriphosphazne. The monomers and polymers were identified by 1 H-NMR ,19 F-NMR, DSC and GPC. Effects of crosslinking on thermal and optical properties of the synthesized polymers will be discussed.
