제목 Simultaneous Control over Size, Shape, and Nanostructure of Monodisperse Block Copolymer Colloidal Particles
초록 Functional behavior of polymeric particles is strongly influenced by their shape and size. Recently, facile approaches for shape control of polymeric particles that involve precise tuning of interfacial energies between block copolymer (BCP) and surrounding has emerged. However, achieving particle size monodispersity together with control over shape and nanostructure was not found. Here, we introduce monodisperse, shape changing BCP particles. Polystyrene-b-polybutadiene (PS-b-PB) BCP underwent self-assembly in monodisperse emulsion prepared by Shirasu Porous Glass (SPG) membrane emulsification. Depending on concentration of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) surfactant, morphology change was observed from onion-like to striped ellipsoid. Formation mechanism was studied by varying particle size and molecular weight, which demonstrates interplay of particle size, chain stretching penalty and interfacial interaction of BCP altogether determines overall shape and nanostructure of a particle.
