Graphene oxide (GO) has abundant oxygen-containing functional groups, which enable it to have hydrophilicity. Further, the functional groups on GO are known to easily form the ionic bonds with various metal ions. We present metal ions coordinated GO aerogel with hydro-stability that can capture moisture under wet conditions. By crosslinking GO with metal-ions having deliquescence, it can attract moisture in atmosphere. The GO foam is a three-dimensional structure prepared by freeze-drying process. Through heat treatment, the salt@GO foam has improved stability of the water. Salt@GO aerogels absorbed moisture by as much as 660% of their original mass in an enclosed space. The ability of storing water showed a maximum of 12000%. It was found the stability of the structure and the water storage capacity depend on the amount and a sort of the metal ions coordination. Through this work, it is possible to fabricate a three - dimensional structure of graphene oxide foam and absorb moisture. |
