제목 Smart polymer grown on nanographene oxide as a synergistic nanocargo for biomedical applications
초록 We have found that large surface area on various common functionalized graphene oxide (GO) has high affinity for non-covalent binding of small aromatic molecules via π-π stacking and hydrophobic interactions. Consequently, pre-functionalized GO can adsorb widely used aromatic molecules by simple mixing and the smart polymer functionalized on GO impart it solubility and stability in water and physiological solutions. The release of loaded molecules can be controlled by varying the pH. Compared to small molecules covalently bonded onto the GO, the physisorption would maximally retain its activity, owing to the lack of chemical reactions between them. Thus, supramolecular chemistry on GO could represent a new, exciting direction that may open up new opportunities in chemistry, biology and medicine.
