Renewable raw materials are playing a very noteworthy role in the development of sustainable green chemistry. Castor oil (CO) is sustainable efficient green chemical. For the further modification of CO, the epoxidation of CO is usually required. Polyol from CO can be prepared by the ring opening of epoxy groups from epoxidized castor oil. In this study, we synthesize the azide terminated castor oil by performing the reaction in a microwave oven. In comparison with conventional methods of these reactions, it proceeded rapidly and was completed within 15 min. Click reaction with azide terminated and alkyne terminated castor oil proceeded in a microwave oven. The mechanical properties of resulting product analyzed universal testing machine, and differential scanning calorimetry. The structure of resulting products is confirmed by nuclear magnetic resonance, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and OH value calculations. |
