Poly(methyl methacrylate)/aluminum hydroxide composites were widely employed to the artificial marbles. Higher mechanical properties and functions were needed in the high-valued artificial marbles. Thermo-sensitive pigments were used to give the color-changing function to the artificial marbles depending on the temperature. The effect of thermo-sensitive pigment on the artificial marbles was studied in terms of color change, mechanical strength, thermal properties, chemical resistance, and hardening characteristics. The curing characteristics were investigated by monitoring the variation of temperature during the reaction time. The surface hardness of the cured composites was studied by Rockwell durometer according to ASTM D785. The color change of artificial marble was investigated by colorimeter. |
