The effect of K addition on NiW-supported HY zeolite catalysts for selective ring opening of 1-methylnaphthalene |
초록 |
Currently, crude oil including heavy oil occupies more than half of the total oil reserves and the heavier oil will be produced in the future. Due to global concerns from the environmental issues and depletion of crude oil, the heavy oil upgrading process has attracted a significant interest. The heavy oil contains a large quantity of heavy molecules, multi-ring aromatics, and asphaltenes as well as high sulfur content. The selective ring opening of naphthenic molecules is a promising pathway for heavy oil upgrading and it has been studied by many researchers. In this study, we prepared bi-functional catalysts using HY zeolites with various Si/Al ratios for acidic function, NiW for metallic function, and K for acidity control. 1-methylnaphthalene was selected as a model compound for multi-ring aromatics in heavy oil, and its selective ring opening reaction has been investigated using the prepared bi-functional catalysts in fixed bed reactor system. |
