Metal sulfide groups have been widely used for photocatalysis because of their appropriate band gap for absorption of light and redox reactions on their surface. However, low absorption of visible-light and high recombination rate of photoexcited electron-hole pairs have hindered practical photocatalytic systems. In order to overcome some drawbacks, we have manipulated Cu-CuS hetero-nanostructures with high activity toward photocatalytic hydrogen evolution. Due to the presence of Cu of Cu-CuS, the ability of light harvesting and the separation of photo-excited electrons and holes were increased compared to CuS. |
