As we enter into an aging society, the interests in biosensors and biochips are keep growing. For these applied research, functional surfaces are required to control cellular adhesion and motility as well as chemical functionality. Here we present the study of polymer thin film that are hybridized with surface-engineered M13 bacteriophage in order to increase interactions between synthetic polymers and cells. Using weak polyelectrolytes for hybridization with M13, we could prepare the films with various characteristics. The films may used as new tissue culture materials and other responsive surface coatings. |
