Preparation of Poly(Methyl Methacrylate)/Graphite Oxide Nanocomposites via In-situ Polymerization with Macroazoinitiator |
초록 |
Graphite oxide (GO), which has pseudo-two-dimensional structure, is hydrophilic, and has been shown to undergo intercalation chemistry with polar macromolecular species such as polyethylene oxide. In-situ polymerization of monomer in the presence of layered material is a widely-used method to prepare nanocomposites. When the polymerization occurs at the gallery between the parallel sheets of layered material, we can anticipate that the layers will be pushed apart and eventually delaminate to give an exfoliated nanocomposite. As a new approach, we used a physically intercalated macroazoinitiator (MAI) in this study to induce the intergallery polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA). The MAI was designed to have a poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) segment, because PEG blocks can be easily intercalated between the gallery of GO sheets. |
