Biodiezel in Vietnam-Potentiality and Opportunity of Development |

In 2005, the demand of oil consumption in Vietnam was about 27 millions tons, will be 37 millions tons in 2010 and 51 millions tons in 2020. Therefore, amount of import fuel also increase when oil price raise everyday. Tens of billion USD that is used for import petrol is a financial burden. In this context, the government are showing the shifting with policies and projects in development of new sources of energy and biodiezel. On the other hand, the physical features of Vietnam creates favorable conditions for development of biodiezel. Nine millions ha of wild land can be used to grow plant for oil. By-products of aquiculture are raw materials of biodiezel production. The recent researches of Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry for biodiezel production from catfish oil and more recently, Jatropha oil are consider as promising sources of fuels. |
