This study introduces temperature-sensitive release of loaded drug from electrospun fibers with core-sheath structure. This study fabricates fatty acid-incorporate polymer fibers containing doxorubicin(anticancer)-loaded polymer particle in their core. The melting point of a mixture of fatty acids that was used in this study is 38-40 oC which is slightly higher than normal human body temperature, it is good for temperature-sensitive drug release. In the temperature-regulated release, below the melting point of the mixture, it will be in a solid state to restrict the passing of drug loaded in the core whereas the drug can be released instantly through the generated pores at a temperature slightly above the melting point. The release profiles of the drug can be further manipulated by varying the amount of the mixture contained in the fibers. |
