제목 Effect of cobalt ions on desorption of cesium from clays by polyelectrolytes
초록  Among various clay minerals, a montmorillonite displays the highest cesium adsorption capacity, and cesium ions are adsorbed mainly on montmorillonite interlayers by less extractable inner-sphere complexation. For this reason, irreversible adsorption of cesium has frequently observed, and desorption of cesium ions from montmorillonites has been challenged.
 We investigated adsorption of polyelectrolytes on montmorillonite and consequent desorption of interlayer cations as well as adsorbed cesium ions. Cationic polyelectrolytes showed efficient adsorption on montmorillonite and removed interlayer cations by cation exchange reaction. We also investigated an effect of coexisting ions on desorption of cesium from montmorillonite by polyelectrolyte intercalation.
