Gas Barrier Properties of Clay/Polymer Hybrid Nanocomposite Films Containing UV-Curable Functional Groups |

Gas barrier properties of clay/polymer hybrid nanocomposite films were measured after introducing UV-curable maleate group onto silicate surface of organo-clay. UV-curable groups were introduced by the reaction of 15A Cloisite with maleic acid. The maleated organo clay was mixed with multi-functional acrylates, and thin coating films were casted on PET film. The reaction was confirmed by FT-IR and TGA. X-ray diffraction and TEM analysis was performed in order to measure the sediment clay layers. Gas barrier properties were improved by introducing UV-curable functional groups on the organo-clay surface. |
