In this research, PHB-HHx, new biodegradable copolyester, and hydrophobic modified fumed silica hybrid composites were prepared with simple melt blend. It could be observed that the interassociated hydrogen bonding was formed between unmodified hydroxyl group in the fumed silica and the carbonyl group of the PHB-HHx and constrained the chain mobility of the PHB-HHx in the hybrid composites. From the isothermal crystallization analysis, it might be found that the relative crystallinity of PHB-HHx/silica hybrid was lower with the increase of silica content. The higher value of Δ E of the hybrid composite also supported that the chain mobility in the hybrid composite was more difficult than that of the PHB-HHx, resulting in the slower crystallization rate of the PHB-HHx/silica hybrid. |
