제목 The Role of Oxidizing Agents in HCl Leaching of Palladium from the Spent Catalysts
초록 In general, PGMs dissolution from the spent catalysts has been carried out by using chloride based leaching solution with oxidizing agents. Herein, we investigated how oxidizing agents(H2O2, NaOCl) affect selective dissolution and recovery of Pd from the spent Pd/Al2O3 catalysts in HCl. The processes are divided into leaching and recovery. In leaching process, the operational parameters affecting leaching such as concentration of HCl, NaOCl/H2O2 ratio, and pulp density was investigated. Pd content in leaching solution was characterized by UV/Vis and ICP-AES. Pd leaching of 95% was obtained in mixtures of HCl(5M)-H2O2(0.6 vol%)-NaOCl(2.4 vol%) at 80 ℃ for 1 h. Then, we optimized pH of the solution and reduced Pd ion with formic acid. Pd was recovered efficiently with 0.5 volumetric ratio of formic acid at pH 3, resulting in 94% Pd recovery. The addition of NaOCl led to increase Pd dissolution because Cl- substitution from HCl to NaOCl could more easily form Pd-Cl complexes.
